Deforestation leads to many problems like climate change, soil erosion, floods, and loss of biodiversity. It also reduces rainfall and increases global warming. Human life is also affected due to lack of clean air and water.

Subject: Complaint regarding water-logging in our area

Sir,

I wish to draw your attention to the serious problem of water-logging in our locality. After even a light rainfall, water collects on the roads and remains there for many days. The drains are blocked and dirty water overflows on the streets. This creates many difficulties for residents, especially school children and elderly people. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water, increasing the risk of diseases like dengue and malaria. Daily movement and traffic are also badly affected. I humbly request you to kindly arrange for proper cleaning of drains and improve the drainage system at the earliest.

Thanking you.

Yours faithfully,
Rahul Verma

It begins with exposition, where the background, characters, and setting are introduced. This is followed by complication, in which conflicts arise and the action becomes intense. Next comes the denouement, where the consequences of that decision start unfolding and tensions begin to resolve. Finally, the tragedy ends with catastrophe, bringing suffering, downfall, or death of the tragic hero, thus completing the tragic action.

The African novel in English emerged mainly in the mid-20th century as African writers began expressing their own history, culture, and social realities through the English language. These novels often deal with themes like colonialism, conflict between tradition and modernity, racial injustice, identity, and cultural loss. Writers used English to reach a global audience while preserving African values, customs, and oral traditions. Chinua Achebe, through his famous novel Things Fall Apart, presented African society from an African perspective. Thus, African novels in English play an important role in world literature by giving voice to African experiences.
