SECTION-B (Subjective)

1.(A) Uses and Abuses of Cinema
Cinema is one of the most popular sources of entertainment in the world. It has a strong impact on people’s minds. It is not just a way to pass time but also a powerful tool to educate and inspire. Good movies teach us moral values, social duties, and important life lessons. Educational films help students understand difficult topics easily. Documentaries spread awareness about real-life issues like environment, health, and history.
Cinema also plays a big role in spreading culture and language. It brings people from different regions and countries closer by showing their traditions, food, dress, and customs.
But cinema also has its abuses. Some movies show too much violence, crime, and vulgarity, which affects young minds negatively. Many people become addicted to watching films and waste their time and money. Unrealistic scenes sometimes give people wrong ideas about life.
In short, cinema can be both useful and harmful. It depends on how we use it. If we choose good movies and avoid harmful ones, cinema can be a great source of knowledge and enjoyment. So, we should watch films wisely and learn something positive from them.

(B) (B) Child Labour

Child labour means making children work for money at a young age, instead of sending them to school. It is a big problem in many countries, including India. Poor families force their children to work in shops, factories, hotels, or on the streets to earn money.
Child labour spoils the future of children. They do not get proper education, food, or rest. They are often treated badly and work in unsafe places. This affects their health and mind.
The government has made laws to stop child labour, but still many children are seen working. The main reason is poverty and lack of education.
We must spread awareness about this issue. Children are the future of our country. They need love, care, and education — not hard work.
We all should take a stand and help every child to go to school and live a happy life.

(C) The Value of Trees

Trees are very important for life on Earth. They give us oxygen to breathe and take in harmful carbon dioxide. Trees also give us fruits, wood, medicine, and cool shade.
They stop soil from washing away during rains and help in bringing rain by keeping the air moist. Birds, animals, and insects also live in trees.
Trees make the world beautiful and keep the environment clean. They also reduce noise and air pollution. Without trees, the earth will become hot and dry.
But people are cutting trees for buildings, roads, and industries. This is causing climate change, floods, and loss of animals.
We must plant more trees and protect the ones we already have. A single tree can help many lives.
So, we should understand the value of trees and take care of them to save our future.

(D) Man and Machine

Machines have become a big part of human life. From mobile phones to washing machines and cars, we use machines every day. They save time and make work easy. In factories, machines help produce goods faster. In hospitals, machines help doctors in treatment.
But too much use of machines has some bad effects. People are becoming lazy and dependent on machines. Many workers have lost their jobs because machines have replaced them. Also, pollution from factories and machines is harming the environment.
Man invented machines to help, not to rule life. We must learn to balance our use of machines.
Machines are useful, but they cannot replace human love, emotions, or creativity. So, we should use machines wisely and not forget the value of human effort.

(E) Save Earth

The Earth is our home, and we must protect it. Today, our planet is facing many problems like pollution, deforestation, climate change, and global warming.
Factories, vehicles, and plastic waste are polluting air, water, and soil. Forests are being cut, and animals are losing their homes. The temperature of Earth is rising, and natural disasters are increasing.
If we don’t act now, the Earth will become unfit for living. We must plant more trees, reduce pollution, save water, and use less plastic. Using solar energy and recycling can also help.
Children and adults — all must take care of Earth. Simple steps like switching off lights, walking instead of driving, and keeping our surroundings clean can make a big difference.
Let us all join hands to save our beautiful Earth for ourselves and future generations.

2(A) The line "The whole of Bharat is my home and its people are my family" was said by Dr. Zakir Husain when he became the President of India in 1967. He wanted to say that he loved the whole country and cared for all Indians like family. He believed that even though people are different in language, religion, or culture, we all belong to one nation and should live together with love and respect.

(B) The given line is taken from the chapter 'Ideas That Have Helped Mankind' written by Bertrand Russell. In this line, the author says that it is clear we, as human beings, know more than animals. We can think, learn, and solve problems better. People often feel proud of this ability and think it makes us special. This thinking power is one of the biggest advantages humans have over animals.

(C) The given line is taken from the story 'The Earth' written by H.E. Bates. In this line, the author says that the old parents, who had always slept in the front bedroom, gave up their room and shifted to a smaller one at the back. This shows how they were sacrificing their comfort for their son, who was now taking control of the house and land. It reflects change and emotional distance.

(D) The given line is taken from the chapter 'How Free is the Press' written by Dorothy L. Sayers. In this line, the author says that any person who is famous—like a writer, speaker, actor, or politician—is carefully made to feel that if they say anything against the Press, they might face problems. The Press holds power and can harm their image or career if they are not careful.

3(A) The given stanza is taken from the poem 'My Grandmother's House' written by Kamala Das. In this line, the poet says that there was once a house, far away from where she is now, where she used to receive love and care. That house belonged to her grandmother. The poet remembers the warmth, affection, and emotional support she received there, which she now misses deeply. It shows her longing for the lost love and happy moments of the past.

(B) The given stanza is taken from the poem 'Snake' written by D.H. Lawrence. In this line, the poet says that he felt regret just after throwing something at the snake. He realized that his action was cheap, small-minded, and unkind. The poet felt ashamed for hurting the harmless creature, and this shows his inner conflict between fear taught by society and his natural admiration for the snake.

(C) The given stanza is taken from the poem 'The Soldier' written by Rupert Brooke. In this line, the poet says that after death, the soldier will be remembered for the good things he learned in life—like laughter shared with friends and kindness in peaceful hearts. He imagines that his soul will rest peacefully under the sky of England, which he sees as a heavenly and beloved place.

(D) The given stanza is taken from the poem 'Now the Leaves Are Falling Fast' written by W. H. Auden. In this line, the poet says that the nightingale, a symbol of beauty and hope, has become silent, and the angel, a symbol of help or divine support, will not come. This shows a feeling of sadness, loneliness, and loss of hope in a troubled world.

Dear Papa,

Namaste! I hope you and mummy are doing well. I reached back safely after spending a wonderful time in the village during the summer holidays.
The visit was truly refreshing. I enjoyed the fresh air, green fields, and peaceful environment. It was great to meet Dadi and other relatives. I also participated in some village activities like helping in the fields and bathing in the pond. The food was simple but delicious. I even made a few new friends there.
This short break from city life gave me lots of beautiful memories and a deep appreciation for our roots. I feel relaxed and happy.
Give my regards to mummy and love to little sister.
Your loving son,
Amit Verma
