A PINCH OF SNUFF SUMMARY

“A Pinch of Snuff” is written by Manohar Malgonkar. He was born on 12 July 1913. He is a well known as novelist and short story writer.
This is family drama. In this there is author (Manohar Mangorkar) and his mother and many other characters. One day author’s mother says to author that his maternal uncle is coming here for 2-3 days because he wants to meet a welfare minister. Author tells mother to tell his uncle not to come but mother refuses. So author goes to the station to receive his uncle. The name of uncle is Nanukaka. After coming, Nanukaka says to author to take him to the welfare minister, Author takes him to the welfare minister but Nanukaka could not meet minister. On the way to his home, author meets a person he is Ratiram son of Sohan Lal who is the head of party in Delhi. Nanu Kaka forces to author to fix appointment with Sohan Lal so that he may meet welfare minister. After the meeting with sohan Lal, Nanu Kaka knows that Sohan Lal has not good relation with the welfare minister because he refused to marry his daughter with Sohan Lal’s son. In this discussion he knows that the marriage of minister’s daughter has been set with a son of Ninnore Maharaj.
Now NanuKaka announces that they will visit the minister’s house. He tells the narrator that they need a large car to impress the minister. For this he calls for a dhobi and uses to trap the manager of Sikka Auto Dealers then he takes car to minister. In visitors book he mentions himself the hereditary pundit to the Maharaja of Ninnore. At last he gave Delhi address where he lives. In the long run the welfare minister himself comes to residence of the writer where Nanukaka welcomes him with respect. This way Nanu Kaka finally met welfare minister and after that he went back to his home.

Ans. The author was shocked when his mother told him that his brother Nanukaka was coming to visit them. the author was aware of the whimsical nature of his maternal uncle, therefore he wanted to make some exurses to stop his uncle from coming to home but his mother stopped him from doing that.
